After Castro death, Trump says hopes for Cuban 'freedom'
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Saturday that his administration would "do all it can" once he takes office on Jan. 20 to help increase freedom and prosperity for Cuban people after the death of Fidel Castro.
But his initial reaction to Castro's death sidestepped whether the incoming president would make good on a threat made late in his White House campaign to reverse President Barack Obama's moves to open relations with the Cold War adversary.

Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign will take part in a recount of Wisconsin votes in the U.S. presidential race, an effort Republican winner Donald Trump called "ridiculous" on Saturday.
Wisconsin's election board on Friday approved the recount requested by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. She has said she wants to guarantee the integrity of the U.S. voting system since computer hacking had marked the Nov. 8 election.

Rooney cleared of drinking on international duty
England captain Wayne Rooney has been cleared after the Football Association investigated reports he stayed up late drinking while on international duty, British media outlets reported on Saturday.

U.S. Republican President-elect Donald Trump gave his first reaction to the death of Fidel Castro on Saturday, saying on Twitter, "Fidel Castro is dead!", without elaborating.
Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, threatened during his campaign that concerns about religious freedom in Cuba could prompt him to reverse President Barack Obama's moves to open relations with Cold War adversary Cuba after more than a half-century's estrangement.

Six PDP Chieftains suspended in Kwara State
Nigeria - The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday announced the suspension of six of its prominent members in Kwara State.
The suspension order is contained in a statement issued in Ilorin, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria.
The statement was jointly signed by the state Chairman of the party, Akogun Iyiola-Oyedepo and Secretary, Barrister Yusuf.

Five people are thought to have died and three others are missing after a chartered fishing vessel went missing in New Zealand.
Eleven people were on board the Francie when it was reported missing in the Kaipara Harbour area of the country's North Island.

Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s funeral set for December 4th
The state funeral for Fidel Castro who died at the age of 90, has been fixed for Sunday December 4, in Santiago de Cuba, according to state media report.
But the cremation of the remains of Castro will be carried out according to his wishes, and has been fixed for Saturday, Cuba President Raul Castro, announced early Saturday.
According official states media, the government has also declared nine days of mourning in honour of the fallen hero.
Attack in Kaduna Nigeria leaves four killed
Four persons were killed while several houses including the house of the village head were burnt, when unknown gunmen attacked Mile One Village in Tafan District, Kaduna State on Friday.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Kafanchan that the hoodlums launched an attack against the residents between 2 p.m. and 10p.m on Friday.

Moscow has protested against plans by Ukraine to carry out missile tests near Crimea, raising the diplomatic temperature between the two countries.
Russia's aviation agency, Rosaviatsia, said Ukraine had notified it of tests to be carried out in "Russia's sovereign air space" on 1 and 2 December in the Simferopol area.

Suspected car bomb kills at least 10 people in Somali capital
A suspected car bomb killed at least 10 people when it exploded at a police checkpoint next to a busy market in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Saturday, police and witnesses said.
Reuters witnesses saw several bodies at the scene of the blast near the vegetable market in Mogadishu's Waberi district, where shops and stalls were wrecked and ambulances raced away with casualties. Pools of blood lay on the ground.
