A car bomb killed 13 soldiers and wounded 56 when it ripped through a bus carrying off-duty military personnel in the central Turkish city of Kayseri on Saturday, an attack President Tayyip Erdogan blamed on Kurdish militants.
The blast near a university campus comes a week after deadly twin bombings targeted police in Istanbul and may further infuriate a public smarting from multiple attacks by Islamic and Kurdish militants this year, and a failed coup in July.

Donald Trump has hit out at the Chinese seizure of a US underwater drone in international waters as an "unpresidented (sic) act".
The US said the drone was collecting scientific data in the disputed South China Sea, and was one of two being recovered by a survey ship, when it was taken by a Chinese warship.
Mr Trump responded to the move on Twitter on Saturday, misspelling the word "unprecedented" as he conveyed his outrage.

Magnitude 7.9 quake off the coast of Papua New Guinea

A magnitude 7.9 earthquake has struck off the east coast of Papua New Guinea.
The earthquake struck 29 miles to the east of Taron on Saturday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. There are no reports of casualties.
A strong aftershock hit the area of the original quake within the space of an hour, with the USGS reporting 5.5 and 6.3 magnitude quakes.

Nigeria - A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday paid a visit to the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, where he said the latter did not deserve to be in detention.

Nigeria - The results of 13,488 private candidates, out of the 172,699 who sat for the 2016 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), have been withheld.
Mr Olu Adenipekun, Head of National Office (HNO) of the WAEC, announced this while releasing results of the Nov/Dec diet of the examination on Friday in Lagos.

Nigeria - The Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday said the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, failed its integrity test.
The DSS in a memo signed by one Folashade Bello and addressed to the Clerk to the Senate said Magu would become a liability to the anti-corruption crusade of the present administration if confirmed.

Aleppo evacuation suspended amid dispute over villages



The evacuation of the last opposition-held areas of the Syrian city of Aleppo was suspended on Friday after pro-government militias demanded that wounded people should also be brought out of two Shi'ite villages being besieged by rebel fighters.

Briefing the Directors of Finance , Heads of Finance and Internal Audit departments of the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, yesterday in Abuja, Director, Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) , Mr. Murtala Oluwatoyin explained that the perceived shortfall was as occasioned by the implementation of the directive of the Joint Tax Board on the payment of income tax, to which had been communicated to the MDAs since 2012, to ensure that correct taxes are paid by the workers.
