North Korea displays apparently new missiles as US carrier group approaches
North Korea displayed what appeared to be new long-range and submarine-based missiles on the 105th birth anniversary of its founding father, Kim Il Sung, on Saturday, as a nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carrier group steamed towards the region.
Missiles appeared to be the main theme of a giant military parade, with Kim's grandson, leader Kim Jong Un, taking time to greet the commander of the Strategic Forces, the branch that oversees the missile arsenal.
Bombing of Syrian bus convoy kills, wounds dozens outside Aleppo
A bomb blast hit a bus convoy waiting to cross into government-held Aleppo in Syria on Saturday, killing and wounding dozens of people evacuated from two Shi'ite villages the day before in a deal between warring sides.
The agreement had stalled, leaving thousands of people from both government-besieged and rebel-besieged areas stranded at two transit points on the city's outskirts, before the explosion occurred.

Nigeria - No fewer than seven people have died and seven hospitalized in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi when a boat carrying 150 passengers returning from Malali Market capsized along River Niger.
The Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in-charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ngaski on Saturday.
El Rufai insists: President Buhari must contest in 2019 or choose APC presidential candidate
Nigeria - Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari must stand for re-election in 2019, in the best interest of Nigeria.
Amid the economic downturn and other issues, he insisted Buhari deserves a second term.
“My prayer is that the president gets well…gets back to full health and run again because I still believe his being president…the stability that he brings to the office is in the best interest of Nigeria,” El-Rufai said on Friday.

Former Attorney General Adoke alleges: EFCC planning to plant cash in my house
Nigeria - The immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is planning to raid his country home in Okenne, Kogi State, with the purpose of planting huge sums of money in order to indict him.
Adoke, who also served as the Minister of Justice under former President Goodluck Jonathan, said this in a statement by his media aide, Victor Akhidenor.
The EFCC had on Tuesday raided Adoke’s home in Kano as part of investigations into the $1.3bn Malabu scam.

Nigeria - Two separate fires in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, that happened between Friday and Saturday, have destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.
Most of the affected structures were said to have belonged to some prostitutes.
The first incident occurred on Friday night at Amarata, near where NAN and another Nigerian media outfit have offices.

A man has left a 15-year-old boy with a bitter lesson after he plucked out his eyes and cut off his manhood for allegedly sleeping with the daughter.
Sun UK reports that the angry father attacked the teenage boy because he thought the lad was sleeping with his daughter.
The incident left the boy almost dead as he was rushed to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan, where medics were able to save his life but was left disfigured and blinded after the horrific attack.

Malachi Hemphill, 13 was on Instagram live when he accidentally shot and killed himself in Forest Park, Georgia.
After hearing a loud bang from his room on Monday evening, Malachi’s mother Shaniqua Stephens and sister ran upstairs, only to find him in the pool of his blood.
“We kicked in the door. We found him just laying there in a pool of blood. My daughter screamed and said, ‘Mom turn his phone off!’ As I proceeded to look at his phone he was on Instagram Live,” Shaniqua said.

President of BDC Operators says God is exposing enemies of Nigeria Naira
President of Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe says the recent discovery of huge sums of money in Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has vindicated its members.
Speaking with newsmen in Lagos on Friday, Gwadabe said that ABCON was shocked by the development, saying that the real enemies of Nigeria and the Naira were gradually being exposed.

A landslide at a rubbish dump in Sri Lanka's capital has killed 16 people and injured at least a dozen more.
Many are feared missing after the 300-foot (91 metre) dump collapsed on homes in Colombo.
A local businessman, who gave his name only as Mohammad, witnessed the landslide.
Flash floods kill at least 25 in East Azerbaijan province (Northwest of Iran)
At least 25 people have been killed by flash floods in northwest Iran.
Authorities say at least 16 others are missing in East Azarbaijan and three other provinces.
Rescue teams have been deployed to the cities of Ajab Shir and Azarshahr to help find survivors.
