Oh dear me! Enugu man allegedly killed for stealing one tuber of yam

Nigeria - The Enugu State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of a man for stealing a tuber of yam in Amorji Nike community of Abakpa axis in Enugu.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement in Enugu on Saturday that the incident happened on Oct. 4.

FIFA Congratulates Nigeria for Russia 2018 WC qualification

The world governing football body, FIFA  has congratulated Nigeria for becoming the first African side to book their place at Russia 2018 after a 1-0 win over Zambia at the Godwin Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

FIFA noted that the Super  Eagles were seen by many as the toughest group of the continent’s five qualifying:

Victor Moses helped Nigeria secure their place at next summer's World Cup in Russia with a crucial win over Zambia, was the message Chelsea FC posted on their website to celebrate the Super Eagles.

Moses started on the right wing for the Super Eagles in the decisive 1-0 victory in African qualifying. Nigeria began the day in first spot in their group as they took on second-placed Zambia. who sat three points behind, with only the top-placed team progressing to the tournament itself.

Kanu rallies support for Eagles ahead of crucial Russia 2018 Zambia tie. See VIDEO

Nigeria - Former Super Eagles star, Kanu Nwankwo has rallied support for the Nigerian team that will be facing the Chipolopolo of Zambia on Saturday.

The closed-door meeting which was held inside the president’s office at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa lasted about an hour and 10 minutes. The minister arrived President Buhari’s office at 11.40am and left at 12:50pm.

US lifts longstanding sanctions against Sudan

The United States lifted long-standing sanctions against Sudan on Friday, saying it had made progress fighting terrorism and easing humanitarian distress, and also secured Khartoum's commitment not to pursue arms deals with North Korea.

In a move that completes a process begun by former President Barack Obama and which was opposed by human rights groups, President Donald Trump removed a U.S. trade embargo and other penalties that had effectively cut Sudan off from much of the global financial system.

Nigeria - The Northeast Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Abdulsalam Badamasi was confirmed dead on Friday after he slumped in his hotel room, official said.



According to NEMA Information Officer, Sanni Datti who confirmed the reports to Daily Trust by phone conservation, said the agency will come up with statement.
