The ministry added that 649 patients have been discharged from treatment facilities.
“COVID-19 Lagos Update as at 20th May, 2020. 199 new cases of COVID-19 Infection confirmed,” the ministry tweeted.
“Total confirmed cases in Lagos as at 20th of May is 2,970. 17 COVID-19 Lagos patients; 6 females and 11 males were discharged. Total Discharged now 649. 4 COVID-19 deaths were recorded. This brings the number of COVID-19 related death in Lagos to 42.”
On Wednesday, Lagos recorded 199 cases, its highest daily toll ever.
The spike in the number of cases, which began in April 2020, has been attributed to increased testing capacity, as well as significant community-based transmission.
